Jackson's Old Chatham House (JOCH43) is steeped in history. Settled around 1770, Old Chatham was an important stop on the Boston-Albany Stagecoach route. The building housing our tavern once served as an overnight stop, with rooms upstairs for weary travelers. President Roosevelt’s grandfather, Cornelius Roosevelt even had a store on this very spot, where Jackson's stands today. Today, Old Chatham is known as horse country, with the Old Chatham Hunt Club, rolling hillsides, and picturesque farms.
In April 2024, after three generations of the Jackson family running the Old Chatham House, we proudly took ownership of the restaurant. As loyal patrons for the past 30 years, we knew that Jackson's was more than just a restaurant, it was an institution. Our motto, “Jackson’s… Everyone’s First Something,” speaks to the many milestones our guests have celebrated here—from my first job to my first kiss to my wedding. For us, this marks the first restaurant we’ve owned, and we are honored to continue the legacy.

JOBSOne of the only places for a later dinner in the area, always does the trick. Got the fisherman's platter, hit and buttery, the prime rib is also a good move. Friendly staff, colorful locals, kitschy and fun.
Everything was top notch from the waitstaff down to the rustic, cozy atmosphere. I, cleaned my plate How is it possible for everything to taste good? But, it was! Hats off to the chef ,fantastic job! I highly recommend if you're a seafood lover, flo's seafood platter. My boyfriend had the pork osso bucco and that was also good. Let's not forget the appetizer French onion is the best we ever had. Five stars.
I dug this place a lot. Halfway between me and a friend, perfect spot for a few quick beers, a satisfying burger, and late game football. The roaring wood stove, low beamed ceiling, and friendly staff made this a relaxing, unpretentious visit. You could tell from several large multigenerational parties this is a well-loved spot.
