Jackson's Old Chatham House
About us
Nestled in the charming hamlet of Old Chatham, Jackson's Old Chatham House has been a beloved gathering spot for locals since 1943. With a rich history and a commitment to quality, we offer a welcoming atmosphere for anyone in search of delicious food, great drinks, and the best wood-stove fire on this side of the Mississippi.
We take pride in serving hearty, home-cooked meals made from the finest ingredients, ensuring every dish reflects our dedication to excellence and tradition. Our menu celebrates simple comfort food—the kind your mom would make. Whether it’s a cold, snowy day spent by our wood stove, or a warm summer afternoon enjoyed on our outdoor patio, you’ll love the experience at Jackson’s.
Jackson's Old Chatham House (JOCH43) is steeped in history. Settled around 1770, Old Chatham was an important stop on the Boston-Albany Stagecoach route. The building housing our tavern once served as an overnight stop, with rooms upstairs for weary travelers. President Roosevelt’s grandfather, Cornelius Roosevelt even had a store on this very spot, where Jackson's stands today. Today, Old Chatham is known as horse country, with the Old Chatham Hunt Club, rolling hillsides, and picturesque farms.
In April 2024, after three generations of the Jackson family running the Old Chatham House, we proudly took ownership of the restaurant. As loyal patrons for the past 30 years, we knew that Jackson's was more than just a restaurant, it was an institution. Our motto, “Jackson’s… Everyone’s First Something,” speaks to the many milestones our guests have celebrated here—from my first job to my first kiss to my wedding. For us, this marks the first restaurant we’ve owned, and we are honored to continue the legacy.
Thank you for joining us. We look forward to you and your family creating your own special memories at Jackson’s.
